Karma’s lightest chair, and it is crash tested
The original Ergo Lite is the stripped-back one: fixed footrests, transport wheels, nothing that does not earn its weight. Karma’s own description is that it is “Karma’s lightest wheelchair, weighing a mere 8.6 kg”.
The one thing it does better: it is the only chair at this weight in the range that is crash tested. That matters if the chair will ever be occupied in a vehicle — on transport, in a WAV, or in an accessible taxi. Lighter chairs usually lose that approval. This one keeps it.
Who it suits
- Someone who can transfer in and out, so does not need swing-away footrests
- Anyone regularly travelling in an adapted vehicle or on community transport
- Carers who want the absolute minimum to lift

VAT relief
Prices exclude VAT. Karma wheelchairs qualify for VAT relief under HMRC Notice 701/7 where the user is chronically sick or disabled, or a charity buys on their behalf. The declaration is completed at checkout.
Worth knowing before you buy
The fixed footrests are what make this chair light, but they also make a side transfer harder. If the user cannot stand to transfer, the Ergo Lite 2 Transit has detachable swing-away footrests for 0.6kg more. A free equipment assessment will settle it in ten minutes.
